Weak Broomsticks

Did you know that some saints (like St. John of the Cross and St. Philip Neri) through an exaggerated sense of humility, actually burned some of their writings, and thus lost them forever in history? I don't think that God is pleased with something like that and probably gave them some seconds in purgatory for this foolish and wasteful behavior. What we have does not come from us, but is a gift of God to be shared with others. Whether we bury our gift or burn it will make us accountable to the Giver of the talents. If God wants to use manure to fertilize his field, that is His business, not ours. He knows how to even change to His advantage the worst things of society and our self-judgments are not to interfere. He is in charge, not us. The venerable Mary of Agreda burned her works because she thought she was not worthy to write on the Blessed Virgin Mary, and then she was ordered to write again. She obeyed and God approved of the work He realized through her. Jesus said, "Do as I say and when you are done, you have done no more than the duty imposed upon you. In heaven, I will worry about the reward to be given for all you have done, but on earth, do what you are to do and consider yourself a simple servant of God". Don't you agree?
