Precious Values of the Vietnamese People

Dear Friends,

The following article is my esteem and recognition of the wonderful values that the Vietnamese people possess:

One of the most loveable people on the face of the earth are the Vietnamese. There are several reasons for this. For one thing, they are a very jovial group. It is very difficult and rare to see a Vietnamese person without a smile on his face. Everytime I have seen them, they are there joking, laughing, smiling and truly enjoying each other's presence. It is not very often that one sees, for example, an American with a smile on his face or taking life lightly. We have become too serious a nation, and lost our sense of humor and joy. A people that no longer knows how to smile is on its way to mental sickness, abnormality and derangement.

Not so with the Vietnamese. Amongst them, one can find joy and acceptance. Their vision of life is much more natural. The Vietnamese are a very communal group. On Sunday mornings, they love to meet, chat, get together, share ideas and form friendships. They have a very correct notion of what our human vocation is truly about. Being in their midst, one senses a good feeling of belonging and being accepted for what we truly are. These are precious human values that we Americans have somewhere lost along the way.

The Vietnamese are excellent cooks and their food is completely nutritious and natural (besides being very tasty). There are no bloated stomaches nor heart ailments after consuming one of their meals. They employ a generous amount of vegetables in their cuisine, providing the necessary vitamins that many of us have need of. The Vietnamese are also an intelligent and highly moral group, fiercely dedicated and respectful of their traditions and family values. It is wonderful to see them together wherever they go as father, mother and children.

Finally, the Vietnamese, of all the Asian groups, are the most physically beautiful. The wonderful complexions and corporal harmony  must be the result of this very natural view of human life and existence. I hope that the Vietnamese be truly conscious and proud of their wonderful values and heritage; sharing them too with the rest of our culture in order to purify, ennoble, enrich and elevate it through their wonderful contribution
